These are the little things I enjoy in life. The list is ongoing. Since it really has nothing to do with my kids, I’m making it a separate page.

Of course, I have to start off with my loves of my life. Without them, I wouldn’t have this blog. I can’t imagine my life without them. They complete me.

1. Hanging out with my sisters. My sisters are my best friends. Whenever needed, for whatever reason (want a lunch partner, someone to vent to, need a hand or an opinion, a babysitter, an events coordinator), they’re always there. They are definitely not the lovey dovey type who hug and kiss, nor would they buy flowers, or pat your shoulders. In fact, sometimes their opinions are too honest than I hope  for. We see each other at least once or twice times a week (sometimes even more). Each time, we might talk like there’s no tomorrow. There are also times when we have nothing to say, but are comfortable with the silence. We have our ups and downs, but at the end, we are always there for each other.

2. A cup of Hot Tea. I sip a cup of hot tea on a hot day, gulp it on a cold day. I chug it during dim sum, indulge it after a dinner. When I’m feeling down, happy, nervous, excited, a cup of hot tea will work its charm.

3. Chinese Durian Dessert. I’ve always been a huge fan of Chinese desserts and durian. Combine the two, and you’ll get this and one happy mama! The durian from this dessert is fresh as we can smell the aroma when the staff blends it. Topped on shaved ice,  the thick flavor of durian pretty much takes over the whole dessert. You’ll end the dessert with some green jelly and red beans. One word comes to mind – WOW. Just kindly bring me this. I’m happy. Slurp Slurp.

4. Clear Blue Skies with Patchy Clouds. We normally have late summers here. It’s almost end of August now, and we are still wearing our sweaters. If we need to get a glimpse of the clear blue skies, we would have to drive south or east. Today, we welcomed summer with opened arms.

5. Raw Fish (Sashimi). This is a pure treat. Sashimi is a popular Japanese dish. The term sashimi basically means ‘pierced body’ and it refers to the other uncooked fish preparation methods. Every now and then, we’d treat ourselves to this no-carb, low-fat, low calories meal. Not only is this healthy, but super delicious (well, only at places that do them right!)

6. Blogging about my boys. I spent a decent amount of time blogging, and reading blogs. Reading others’ blogs often inspires me and takes me to places I’ve never been. I enjoy reading my ‘older’ blogs and reminisce the time I wrote it. My boys grow up so fast as such that by documenting the things they do, the things they say, the feelings they share with me is the best way to hold on to all the memories.

7. Chillin’ with kids. I love kids and kids love me. I’m goofy. I act like them. When it comes to play, I am a big kid myself. I chase after them. I let them chase after me. Mr. Piggy has to remind me on several occasions that I am an adult, and should act like one. Chill, Mr. Piggy. I can never grow old.

8. Bento Making. I’ve been making bentos for my older son since last year when he started Kindergarten. I love looking at others and get inspirations from them. With only one hour to play with in the morning, I can’t make it too fancy. After each bento, I take a picture, and share with other moms.

9. Bento Tools Tools are very important for making bentos as they really help expedite the whole process! I’ve been very fortunate to live in a place where I can buy these tools. I bought most of my tools from Daiso and Ichiban Kan and ordered some from eBay.

10. Boba Milk Tea. I really can’t recall when I started milk tea with boba (tapioca). I’m not addicted to it, but it’s almost a weekend ritual. Lately, I fell in love with this joint called TEAWAY where we scoop our own tapiocas. TEAWAY offers different flavored jellies or various sizes of tapioca. They always have a line throughout the day (they don’t charge an exorbitant price like other places). It’s also a plus when we get to decide how we like our tapiocas! You buy 8, you get one free. LIKE.

11. iPhone. Our mobile phones are not just phones anymore. It also functions as our camera, voice recorder, a calculator, a rolodex, a calendar, a GPS, a device to check on nearby restaurants, our e-mails, the weather, traffic, stocks, and so much more. It is a gadget hard to live without these days. I’ve been without a phone for a week recently. Boy, what an uneasy feeling that was. By the way, having a phone in hand makes a lot less irritating when waiting for someone or something.

12. Yoga. Breathe in. Breathe out. Every 2-3 times a week, I practice yoga to keep my sanity. Just kidding, it’s really for my back and shoulders. I sit in front of the computer for too long daily, so yoga takes the kinks and knots out of the body. It feels great after every practice. Obviously, the silhouette figure is not me. One day, I’ll get there….

13. Andes Mint. On special occasions, Mr. Piggy knows better not to buy me an flowers, or extraordinary gifts. Getting a box of Andes mint will be just as unique for me. I’ve been a huge fan of Andes mint as long as I can remember. It’s not expensive nor sophisticated. It’s simple, just a minty chocolate, maybe that’s exactly why I enjoy it so much more.

14. Coffee flavored ice-cream. Here’s another classic example of how weird I can be. I don’t drink coffee but love love love any coffee flavored ice cream (just like I love peanut and butter, but never tried peanut butter). Recently a friend introduced to me the this Turkish coffee ice cream, and I’m pretty hooked. It’s rich, smooth, and definitely refreshing! Of course, I do my best to have self-control (one to two scoops is all I can take one day). Just by staring at it already makes me drool.

15. Curly Fries. So far, I haven’t fond anyone who turns away from french fries, oh especially curly fries. I’m no exception. French fries was one of my biggest craving when I was p regnant with my second child. I can feel my eyes pop out when I see or smell fries. Anyhoo, the picture shown was from Barney’s Gourmet Hamburgers. Their spicy curly fries – exceptional (still licking fingers).
