Part of my Chinese curriculum is learning mandarin. Since my mandarin is not as sharp as my cantonese (the language that I speak and teach), I thought the best way to teach the boys mandarin is through songs. I pick songs (most of which I know) with simple lyrics and easy melodies. I first let them listen to it (youtube) and then start teaching them the words/lyrics afterwards. Luckily I have pianists at home! By the time they are familiar with the song, Dai Bee starts playing the song while Ah Lo sings. Dai Bee has a more difficult job since he has to play and sing at the same time. This is my favorite part of the curriculum.
