This has been a busy time week for the boys. They spent many hours in zoom meetings planning for their online tutoring program. It’s slowly coming into place, but with a lot of more work to do in the coming weeks.

This week –

  1. During the boys’ daily zoom meeting, Dai Bee was on the piano for his cousin, S’ birthday. All his cousins sang the birthday song, both English and Chinese (via zoom).
  2. For the last couple of weekends, the boys stopped by the grandpa’s house and took him out for a little walk around the block.
  3. The boys zooming with their cousin. This scene happens quite often this week.
  4. Ah Lo graduated this week.
  5. Ah Lo’s last zoom class earlier this week. IT was bittersweet to hear him say, “Good-bye.”

Finally…and yes, it was totally worth the hype…

Mr. Piggy purchased some cheap tickets ($50 per person) for a matinee show months ago. I’ve been waiting patiently and super excited we finally got to watch it. My sister and her husband came along. We bussed to the theater (smart move!) I came home but couldn’t stop listening to the soundtrack on YouTube. It’s a great show and I highly recommended to everyone!

Today Dai Bee told me his school’s orchestra will be playing his piece that he wrote in the spring concert! What a great news! He worked on it for some time now and hear it live is so amazingly out of this world (my world). He downplays everything and doesn’t think it’s a big deal. To be able to play instruments is one thing, and to put all the instruments together and make it a song is another. It’s a special gift. He is truly special.

Can’t wait it to hear it this spring!

Dai Bee was performing his winter recital at the Conservatory this weekend. It’s such a joy for him to be able to perform at this venue. He has been there once for a violin recital. This hall we were in was small, intimate and simply magnificent! The sound level was impressive which adds to the perfect ambience. After his performance Dai Bee said if he makes enough  money in the future, he will make sure he has a room in his house to be able to play like this.

p.s. He played from memory two pieces – Sonata in D Major, Op. 10 #3 (Presto) and Beethoven Invention and Basso Ostinato – Shchredin. His piano teacher complimented that was the best she’s ever heard him played. Wonder if it has anything to do with the venue? (ノ・_-)☆

A Friday ritual.

A single photo – no words – capturing a moment from the week.

A simple, special, extraordinary moment.

A moment I want to pause, savor and remember – {this moment}

This one is suggested by Ah Lo – Say You Won’t Let Go, by James Arthur.

Any song suggestions?

Yay! Here’s Dai Bee’s piano cover for Someone You Loved, by Lewis Capaldi, suggested by one of my sisters.

Yes, I need to work on the recording, but the song sounds beautiful!
